Another Kind of Love

On February 18, 2011, the PGSO performed for the Elizabeth Fry Society’s fundraiser, Another Kind of Love. 50% of the donations raised go to support Amber House, a safe haven for women and children fleeing domestic violence and 50% of funds go to support the development of the first transition house in India. Later this month, the Elizabeth Fry Society will be sending Over $10,000 to support Jagruti Seva Sanstha with this mission.

Take Back the Night

The annual Take Back the Night march is taking place Friday September 24th at 6:30 pm at the front lawn of city hall (1100 Patricia Blvd). Men are welcome to join and show their support at the reception following at 8:15 pm. This is an event to honor the women who have not survived violence, celebrate those that have, and demand that women and children be safe in our community.

Boston Pizza Purchase a House Continues!

Boston Pizza will be continuing the purchase a house campaign for another month. Go into either branch of Boston Pizza, this August, and purchase a paper house for $2 in order to support our local transition house, Amber House, and to support the development of the first ever transition house in India.

Prevention of Violence Against Women Week 2010

This year, unique banners, were hung in the gateway in order to recognize women and children who have been victims of violence. During the week, a community awards luncheon was held, a number of open houses took at a number of social service agencies, Jackson Katz movie night took place at CNC and the week ended with the flower ceremony, at Cotton Wood Park.
