“Shelter from the Storm Campaign” Thank You

Amber House, our 17 bed transition house in Prince George, and Eagles Nest, our 6 bed transition house in Burns Lake, would like to recognize the generous financial contribution from the Canadian Women’s Foundation, Shelter From the Storm Campaign.  This campaign took place from April 14 to May 13th, 2012 through a wide variety of fundraising activities hosted through Winners, HomeSense and Roger’s Media.  We wish to thank Canadian Women’s Foundations and these community minded business for supporting the valuable work we do in providing respite and support to women and children fleeing violence.

We are very excited to announce that we have a new program! This new program is a holistic, strengths based, woman centred care program that supports moms, babes and families. Our new program is called: Baby’s New Beginnings Pregnancy Outreach Program

Yard Sale a Success!

Amber House is having a Yard Sale! Household items, tools, children’s items, furniture, clothing.  Also for sale are hot dogs, baked goods and cotton candy! All proceeds from this event will go to Amber House.

Another Kind of Love

On February 18, 2011, the PGSO performed for the Elizabeth Fry Society’s fundraiser, Another Kind of Love.  50% of the donations raised go to support Amber House, a safe haven for women and children fleeing domestic violence and 50% of funds go to support the development of the first transition house in India.  Later this month, the Elizabeth Fry Society will be sending Over $10,000 to support Jagruti Seva Sanstha with this mission.

Take Back the Night

The annual Take Back the Night march is taking place Friday September 24th at 6:30 pm at the front lawn of city hall (1100 Patricia Blvd).  Men are welcome to join and show their support at the reception following at 8:15 pm.  This is an event to honor the women who have not survived violence, celebrate those that have, and demand that women and children be safe in our community.
